Im just starting to get into tuning my ped and was wondering would the severe bog when taking off be because of too heavy of rollers?

could be a number of things...
heavy rollers
dead center "contra" spring
jetting
dead clutch springs
worn belt

brand new belt, was a nice tan color after some plug chops, so yea maybe 12g is a little to heavy

WOT plug chops do not show you what is happening at off idle when you are having your bog. Hence the plug tells you nothing about YOUR problem. Try adjusting the idle mixture for the highest RPM possible and then adjust the idle speed screw so that the rear wheel does not rotate.

12 gram weights? Wow that's heavy, dude! Try 7's or 7.5's...

I have worked on a scooter at the shop where the owner had installed his own belt, and in the process did not get his roller weights / ramp plate aligned correct, keeping his variator fully apart all the time.... He couldn't figure out why his bike felt like it wad starting in 5th gear all the time... It felt likevthat because it was starting in 5th gear all the time!

I agree with Z. Even with correct Vario installation, heavy weights will cause the belt to move halfway up the front pulley at too low RPM, sometimes before the clutch engages.
It may cruise at very low revs too, feeling gutless and unable to get to top speed.

Stock on even the 87 Aero was 10 grams, and it revved no higher than 8K.
Unless you've got a +2K Contra spring, I suggest 8.5g Max.

thanks for the reply ordered a multi weight roller kit and going to start trying to figure out where it best performs

my guess would be the cvt is not functioning. I think even with heavy rollers, it wouldn't be THAT bad
