noiseguy wrote:I am starting through these mods on my scooter. first off, the inner pulley needs .030" taken off the inside, not 1/16". any more than that and you will be running the belt outside the pulley. as for the head, it looks like you could take a max of .030" off the head before you lose minimum piston to head clearance of .010". i am going to start with taking off .020".
noiseguy, after pulling both an 84 and an 87 spree apart i noticed that an 87 spree has a dome shaped piston and the 84 has more of a concaved shape on the top. correct me if im wrong but wont the 87, have more compression because of that shape? u might be better off and get even more compression with an 87 piston.

Sounds like it. Were the heads different b/t the '84 and '87?

I built a custom cone filter from an existing Spree inlet tube and a paper element from a lawnmower filter. Suffice to say that it didn't make it go any faster/quicker. I think you would actually have to play with the intake length to get this to work, but I'd had enough of that route.

i think i asked this before but, since the spree carb is sooo finicky, what about a standard 49cc pocket bike carb? since the throttle is a better design, u can also buy different flows, and they have velocity stacks. u should be able to bolt one up with no problem.
