Re: 86 aero nb 50 performance questions
Yeah, put at least an 85 main jet in the carb. Even a stock engine runs better that way.

Re: 86 aero nb 50 performance questions
CT intake and a 19 to 21 OKO for the intake. Leo Vince for a pipe.

Re: 86 aero nb 50 performance questions
Greetings:
Wow! Is that 49MPH on stock gears? If so that's like 9-12MPH faster than the average stock Aero. Pretty good.
Bear's advice is correct, but the CT intake isn't quite bolt-on for the '86 crankcase. When you install it, you'll see there's an open strip of case port - nearest the cylinder - that the CT doesn't cover. A thick-metal or composite adapter to do that can be crafted. Use NB50 gasket below, CT gasket above, and make sure everything seals tight.
Your rejetted stock carb can be sold in FS/WTB to recoup some of the $100 cost of the CT manifold and OKO carb. Considering how fast you're already going, I'm not sure the bigger carb will help as much as the LeoVince SP-3 pipe. Look for kit number #4447, and watch for pipe contact with the right frame cover at full bump.
To go much faster, you're probably going to need to convert to SA/16 gearcase and then obtain 9:1 or 8.4:1 gears.

Greetings:
Quoth 86nb50:
Gear case swap plans for the NB/SE-05 engine case have been recorded on the Forum, search and read. TrafficJamz is the one who posted about it. If you ax real nice, maybe he takes pity on you. It's not easy to find the parts, and it won't be cheap, but if an old Aero is what you have to work with, it can be done.
Good luck, and get a Garmin on video; You may be doing more like 44. Still, for an Aero that ain't bad.
Quoth 86nb50:
If you're getting a true 49 MPH out of 49cc, you should be popping Champagne....i m happy with 49...
Something tells me you're both using very short Miles per hour. GPS, or some other friend's speedometer? They all lie, especially 600cc sportbikes, like by 12%. Fact is, variator or not, stock NB power is not likely enough for 49 MPH, even with gears. A Chinese 50 is even less likely to hit that speed, let alone exceed it.but my buddies 50 cc 4 stroke china bike got around me i can t let that happen again

Re: 86 aero nb 50 performance questions
I agree with mr wheelman, i pushed my aero 50 to 50 plus and its no easy task. I ported the bore, keli vari with sef plate, malossi wild lion pipe, 10:1 gears and wind at my back for a really long stretch of WOT that is on a slight downhill to make it happen. I about did a jig when i saw the GPS. Best way to get there without the engine over reving is truly with a bbk and gears. I wanted to push it in stock form as far as possible, and let me tell you, even with gears the motor feels like it is going to explode when you get to that point...Wheelman-111 wrote:Greetings:

Unless you boost the compression the 110 gas is a waste of time. Oh and you midwesterners have no clue about hills.86nb50 wrote:howdy,
