No, it's the stock gearing. No matter what you do, it will peak out at 45mph (about 8800rpm) . You could force more rpm out of it, but it'll eventually self-destruct if you do that. With 16:42 gears, you'll get about 50+mph at 8800rpm. Never mind fiddling with all the other bits, just change one thing at a time until you get it figured out.

Here's a cheap quick kludge: try a wider drive belt. A 17mm wide belt (Malossi 08 303194) will ride further up and change your final drive ratio and you'll see higher top speed. But it's not a perfect solution since it's not a good fit. But it should show you some extra speed (until it disintegrates after a few dozen wheelies). The up-gearing with a 15mm belt (eg:Kitaco 465-1029300) is a better long-range solution.

well actually the price aint too bad, in english its £134 including delivery which is $18 but i already have a tecnigas exhaust and that'll be a waste if i buy that plus it goes a decent speed how it is now, around 60mph. how much more power could that exhaust give me? is the tecnigas any good? and can u send me a link to a scorpion exhaust please, i wona see it?

thanks

I now have a 21mm OKO carb, CT intake and 48mm free-flow air filter and also a race clutch with 2000rpm clutch springs, not sure how fast it goes now but i think it goes 60+mph, im gona keep the tecnigas exhaust as it runs well with everything and thats about all im gonna do to my scooter.

Tru72......I have to disagree on ur input on the technigas pipe to a certain extent....I had a malossi 72cc cast iron bbk....stock Carb..stock airbox...technigas pipe...
polini final drive gear.....and I pulled 74mph flat road on a Garmin GPS.....I have now put a 19 areechi...stock airbox....and a v8 pipe and pulled 72 but the low end and the torque is a lot different....but as far as saying they are garbage is not a true statement...for a mild built and not for straight race it is a alsome pipe...and it last a long time I have had mine now for about 6 years and it is still in alsome shape

Sym dd w/ hona dio engine i need help please!

Post by Madman »

Ok I like this thread I'm building a similar build,
Got a sym dd50
With chamber
Intake system
Oko21mm carb
4.5 g rollers
Daytona 10% up center spring
Standard gears
Soon will have malossi springs in the clutch1500-2000rpm
And going to get the big bore kit Malossi
Can get it up to 90km on the speedo but I suspect it's under reading the speed so I recon it's about 80 km.
I like the sym it's got potential. Did all the work myself. Just did new piston and rings about 1000kms ago but want the bb kit next. Don't want to go real fast but I wanna get there quick as I live in Tokyo and top speed is not important! But acceleration is!
SYM dd
50mm 82cc KABOOOOOMMM
Strengthend crank
V8 typhoon
Malossi clutch springs yellow
Datona +20% center spring
kitako type x variator
Oko28mm
CT intake

nice i dunno bout the speed, earlier on mine when it said 80km/h or 50mph, i was next to my mate on his 125 honda cbr and he said i was goin 54mph, speedos are innacurate on 50cc's i think. does ur speedo go up to 90km/h madman?
