Greetings:

Stock primaries are assumed with the installation of the 8.44 secondaries. It affects take-off from 0 to 6 MPH, then the clutch engages fully and the variator compensates pretty much completely so acceleration from 10MPH up feels (almost)exactly like stock.

I'd buy 60MPH with 8.44s but 70 would require extremely high revs or a very tight belt drive. I've never gone faster than 65 with 8.44s. Others report that they have.

I use the 8.4's can break 60, almost 65 but any higher i feel would be too much revs on my bore

305, how goes it. The deal for me is this: I love the power, and it's there, but I had to consider the whole package. i.e. what I am willing to do to maintain the set up, what conditions am I riding in, what kind of reliability am I going to get out of the set up, and so on. So for me, just me, I use the gearing as a part of the tuning of the motor/ conditions I'm using the bike for. Maybe I'm seeing it differently than anyone else, but that's how it makes sense to me. I haven't tried a lot of set ups yet but I'm sure I will be as the(what seems to be never ending)tuning goes on. Hope it helps. Happy Trails!

Top speed has to do with your pipe too. I've hit 70 with a mallossi cast iron stock crank with my scorpion and arrow pipes. I've only been able to get up to 65 with my v8 but I can wheelie forever with that pipe
