What is a good pipe for the Polini Contesta?

Post by Mystic »

Have a contesta coming in the mail and I am wondering what is a good pipe that isnt too loud and wont break the bank but still allow optimal venting of heat but also keep the engine from over reving? I am thinking the V8 Typhoon is probably my best bet but I would like some opinions. I just cant see running the exhaust I have (kymco zx exhaust which is practically like an unrestricted af18 dio exhaust) Is there any danger in running the stock exhaust?

there is no danger in running a stock exhaust. if you really want to keep the noise down, put a airbox. the intake noise is really loud.

if you run the stock side(no mesh) would be super quite but may lose some power.

Ignore the doggy, You will not get a decent fit with your OKO to the stock air box.

From my research, the PG long/short requires a larger than 21mm carb and is a high rev pipe. The higher the revs and performance the shorter the lifespan of the motor in general.

Greetings:

I frankly can't tell much difference in performance between the PG Long I had and the Short I'm running now. The Long is poorly crafted and the baffle welds break inside the pipe, in my case within a year. It remains to be seen if the Short is any more durable. I've run 24 mm to 30 OKO carbs and they all seem to like to rev into the Mid-10s with either pipe.

Engines can be rebuilt. You have a quality kit made for high rpms why would you skimp out on the pipe. The v8 pipes are easy to tune but have a poor high end. The pgis a good all round pipe
