polini 72cc bbk question
Just bought a polini 72cc bbk. I know the kit comes with a jet but what size is it? Ill be running stock carb and exhaust (unrestricted) and im wondering if i will have to make any adjustments on the needle since i mix my own gas 40:1 ok?. When i got the scooter the exhaust was unrestricted and had no air filter(which would cause it to bog) so the motor ran really lean since it had the stock jet 68#. Just wanting to make sure i have the proper jetting so i get the full potential out of the bbk. Not wanting to take a chance and lean the new kit out! Thanks for reading.

You wont get full power with a stock carb and exhaust you need aftermarket items

Re: polini 72cc bbk question
The jet should have a number stamped on it. I think that is not for a US carb so you will have to get a larger jet from honda from a 88-93 elite 50 lx/sr. Run a airbox so you don't risk lean seize on decel due to a small pilot jet.

You need aftermarket carb. The pilot jet is fixed in the stock ones. Too small

im asking what should the correct main jet size be for the stock carb with 72cc bbk and why does everyone else use the stock carb. I know im not gonna get the full performance but your saying i cant use the stock carb with the correct main jet? Doesnt make sense

Re: polini 72cc bbk question
You can switch out the main jet on the stock carb. The pilot jet you cant switch out. You run the risk of a lean mixture

I ran an 88 but i had the stock airbox and oil pump. I added small amount of oil to the tank at fill up.lolo123 wrote:can someone just answer my question what is the right main jet size for a 72cc bbk kit

Re: polini 72cc bbk question
You cant just change the main and call it good. The pilot has to be changed too

Re: polini 72cc bbk question
As long as the stock airbox is used, uping the main jet to a 88 is all that's needed as long as the stock exhaust is being used too. A 72cc setup with stock carb and exhaust with 8.44to1 gears can still net a 60mph topspeed and its good on gas.kingkamehameha wrote:You cant just change the main and call it good. Re: polini 72cc bbk question
The 88 is the one to use with a stock airbox. If you plan on using a pod filter on the stock carb, don't do it unless you want to seize the kit.lolo123 wrote:I have a 88# main for a US carb will that work? What im asking is what is the correct main jet when using a 72cc polini bbk

Re: polini 72cc bbk question
Greetings:
IF you install a pod filter and keep the stock exhaust, I suggest you start with a 94 and work down according to temperature on the CHT. If you don't have one, I strongly recommend you install one. Plug chops are a poor substitute.

Re: polini 72cc bbk question
Nice, so some people run the polini BBK on stock carb, stock airbox and unrestricted exhausts and can still hit 60mph with 8.44:1 gearing?bakaracer wrote:The 88 is the one to use with a stock airbox. I might do that to my other elite, the GF really doesn't like the intake noise of my scooter now.
