I have access to a welder, yes. What engines would bolt in somewhat easily?swimmingfree wrote:First off.. not sure

Just ride around town, n go faster.
Re: New kid on the block
with some modifications you can get the sa50 into the sb50. you will need to make a new motor mount and move the shock. possibly some body mods. search around on the forum people have done this in a spree which has the same motor. and welcome to the forum.

Re: New kid on the block
Couple of things before you start to disassemle it. If it is slow as crap what mph can you get it to? Remove the exhaust pipe and look at the exhaust port on the engine and clean it out with something that will not scratch the piston. (Bet you find it half plugged) You can chemically clean the muffler by filling it with Liquid plumber and let it sit over night. You will need to plug both ends and give it a good shake. Make sure the carb is clean and adjusted correctly. A clean air filter that is properly oiled is also very important.
New spark plug set to proper spec. If that doesn't help it get to 30 plus then you can mod the engine to get it to go faster. Good luck!

I can get it to 32, just takes awhile lol
Re: New kid on the block
the reason it takes longer is because it is a single speed

Re: New kid on the block
So are you getting rid of the drive face or driven face of the SB50? I could get you a decent amount of money for some parts it might help you with your build.

The Elite 150 is liquid-cooled and will require some trickery to get it properly set up in your bike.
None of the alternate powerplants are an "easy" or "bolt-in" swap. Your most logical procedure is to clean and tweek the stocker. You want an easy way to get faster ??...sell and buy faster bike....
