Spree with an AF16E Electrical compatibility question

Post by yamahauler660r »

I'm finishing my swap project (86 spree with a 96 elite S engine)

will this setup work?

spree:
harness, ICM (CDI), voltage regulator, and resistor.

Elite S:
stator & flywheel, coil

Can I use a spree/elite E regulator(the big style), and are the spree and elite E&S ICM/CDI all the same?

Use the spree stator or you will blow your headlights. No wire splicing or anything plug and play

So that's why my tested headlight doesn't work on it. Thanks for the info. I'll definetly switch to a spree setup along with another headlight.

I know the you had a problem with yours......but most of the spree dio swaps we do around here work out just fine with the elite stator.

Maybe your setup blows the head lights cause it revs so high.

Can I put some sort of rectifier or anything between the stator and headlight?

Ok thanks guys. Maybe the headlight never worked. I only had it running for a short time before the reeds had a catastrophic failure.....due to a reed block issue :hi:

I've also changed the stator and flywheel since then. (both sa50)
