'85 Aero Just Got Wings!

YES INDEEDY I GOTTA POLINI!

Well just purchased my first BBK for my '85 Aero and can i just say, WEEEEEEEEEEE! :ndance:
The Polini Corsa was worth every penny, but im unsure how to properly break it in. It's an AF16, I'm running my stock carb and box with a #95 jet and a pipe that i don't know of but it does wonders. Worked well with my recent 66cc bore. I've ran about close to 2 tanks of gas through it, all while never passing the 30mph mark. After 100 miles rolled over i opened it up a little bit, never holding the throttle but a quick zap to 40mph then back to cruising at 25mph or so. How many more tanks do i run through it, or miles, before its completely broken in? every tank of gas is well premixed before running and i opened up my oil feed a little more to help with lubrication.
I also noticed when my 66 bore was in that my gears really sucked. The bottom end was great but i couldn't exceed anything past 40mph, not even downhill. after installing the Corsa i was informed that the gearing off the dd50 could be used. Well i tried for about 30 min. and you can't use those gears, they simply don't fit. So i put everything back together and filled with new gear oil, the old oil was brown, viscosity was still good but i'm pretty sure some moisture got in there. The culprit was the bearing for the shaft that rear wheel bolts onto, all rusty lookin, gotta change later when i have more munny. :b2t: I changed the oil and seen the clutch was looking a little misshaped. The C-clips that hold the pads to the clutch face?? all those clips were gone. nowhere to be seen. So now i'm running a dd50 stock clutch and replaced the springs with PURPLE ones i had on mine. Anybody know what the purple springs are rated at? they look awesome. Anyways, after assembling the bike i went for a cruise and noticed it now FLIES past 40! :naughty: Not sure what i did, but it really moves now. Thought it might have been a combo of the bad gear oil n clutch, but i can't think of why?
After a few miles i notice the clutch doesn't bite as quick, like its slipping, but once it gets going, WEEEEEEEE! And, after cruising at about 25, i give it a little more throttle and it kinda lags to get to my desired speed. Sometimes while going uphill i have to hold the throttle wide open to get any response. Maybe the jetting? Or a bigger carb? I was thinking weights but i wheelie no problem when the clutch grabs correctly. I have 9g weights in.

I would appreciate any good advice on my situation. Mahalo!

9g weights!

Try lighter weights.

The revs will come much quicker.

Ok sounds good. I checked my clutch and it was all full of oil. Slippery clutch equals no wheelies. Changed back to my clutch, noticed it was a performance clutch. Waaaay better.

OH SNAP! Ok I thought I seized my corsa last night coming up a hill. It's not too great going uphill, kinda lacks power, a lot of power. But downhill is a breeze. It was a scary night thinking that I seized new bore and its not even fully broken in yet. So I woke up at 7 and started wrenching away. I took off the head and it looks ok. Still cross-hatches on the cylinder, no scars, so I checked the piston next and that's good too. No scratches or scarring.???? W T F?

why dont run bigger carb.. get a 18mm vm mukuni carb.

you need to get fix primary shaft seal..

did you seize old 66 bore? if yes, you may seize corsa bore. because got metal shaving into crank case from 66cc bore.

Well I found out why my bike just died out last night. I'm pretty embarrassed to say, but I ran outta gas. Haha I was pretty hammered and needing gas was second to more booze. Not proud at all. Rookie move.

You should avoid the uphill rides with your un-broken in corsa

Rajah that! Well I changed out my weights to 6.5g and 9g. It does a lot better uphill.

Ok picked up some Ruima 6.8:1 gears and after taking my gears off, they wont fit. I think I have the af05 gears still in my af16?

They no longer make gears for the nb50 and if run out of gas with the polini bore and seize just get .050 hone.
