Is there a dramatic difference in the front end performance for the Elite E and Elite LX?

I see a lot of guys who want the Elite LX rather than E, is this because you can source aftermarket shocks or springs better?

I have a 1990 Elite E I bought site unseen for a good price, did not know that it was an E until I got it, the guy didnt know either, and wasnt a technical scooter guy. Turns out it has the SB50 and wont be a good candidate for the AF05 i have sitting on the bench.

However, since I cant get the d*** thing started yet, due to kick start and electric start both being kaput, I am starting to play with the idea of putting the AF05 in, I am not totally sold on it, but I am considering it. The body is in really good shape, and I like the trunk, in comparison to my Elite 50 (1987).

Spree/SB forks contain nothing more than a spring. There's no oil damping, only that provided by friction, which is to say not much.
Small and cheap hydraulic shocks are perhaps better than none at all. The biggest advantage to the trailing-link design of the Aero/SE/SA forks is a sort of natural anti-dive - copared to telescopic forks - along with a little longer travel and perhaps a smoother ride. Also, since you're bolting up a bigger drum brake and tire, grip and stopping distances will likely be better.

I have an E with a AF16 transplant and the S link front end. I like the way it tracks; the front end feels a bit heavier and seems to be smoother and sure footed than the stock E front end. I'm more confident in taking corners at speed. I've never regretted the upgrades.

Yes in that pic that T Jamz posted is my E ... that same E now has the SE front fork conversion with an af16 engine AND converted my 1987 se50 with the wider S style front rim and 80/90 tire

honda g-dash stem and honda metro forks/brakes. you can fit dio forks and disk brake if you want.

If this is a track only scoot you need kitaco rims + stage 6 clutch
