Re: SPREE TUNING

okay today i made some changes. lowered the pilot jet to a 35 and adjusted the needle down one from the middle (so moved clip up). And it ran alot better took it out for a 4 mile ride and it took a while lol. I put a temp gauge on the head it ran at around 145 C. but at 1/2 to a quarter throttle she was only running at about 25 mph and was smoking like crazy. When i pulled back into the shop she was up their in temp at about 175 C. i pulled the plug and it was a light brown. So wheres hould i go from here? should i lower the needle to the last run or it that hgoing to make it run to lean? 175 C seems pretty high in temp. Thanks !

That does sound a little hot if its that temp after its idled down, my stock spree might get up a bit in temps in the 330F range maybe up to 350f max but only if I beat the living death out of it and the temp drops very very fast as soon as I let off the throttle . if its that hot after the fan has done it thing I'd call that a little on the hot side. The plug once its been run awhile unless its snow white wont tell you much now, only a new plug and plug chop will give you what the main jet does. And as for the pilot im not sure if you can use the plug to tell you about its mixture that im not sure of others with more experience will have to fill us in on that. I love having the temp gauge in realtime to watch for trying to get the pilot figured out.

Its stock. Many spree's are run this way without touching the intake window.
