Post by bjdipert269 »

Greetings:

As some will gleefully point out - Over and OVER AND OVER - performance pickin's are slim for the Spree and mechanical scion SB50 Elite E models. That svelte, form-hugging plastic astern was made possible by a manifold that tucks the carb in tightly afore the shock, leaving little room for bigger carbs or even airboxes. Find out who has successfully adapted the OKO CT Chrome manifold to the Spree/SB block, and the world of wonder-carbs opens up. Otherwise, even the Arreche-for-Honda put the accursed bystarter where it fouls the shock.

Greetings:

You asked about a pipe for the SB. Pickin's are slim there, too, but Motions Left Mopeds has crafted a really nice one. He had one left as of yesterday.

Certainly the variated engines (Aero & early Elite AF05E WITH Variator and later Elite models AF16 and above all can be fabbed to fit.) can deliver more performance than the Spree/SB block, but some find satisfaction - if not particular practicality - in seeing how much performance they can coax out of whacha got. Some SBs are reported to crack 40MPH. Can you do better?

About 3%, UNLESS you increase the RPMs. This is what a pipe can do for you.

Greetings:

Honda's engineers got the most out of the easy and cheap-to-build design they could, while keeping it reliable. "Opening up" for more air flow runs directly into issues with the Pilot jet circuit. The jet is the correct size for best performance within that stock design. A bigger jet will therefore make it slower. There is no Easy Tweak for more speed. If there were, Honda would have done it. Spend some time reading to confirm your interest in pursuing a few extra MPH. It's cheaper than modding a Hayabusa, but still requires knowledge, planning, a little money, and some measure of Luck.

Greetings:

"Dio" is sort of a HondaSpree.net misnomer. The Dio MODEL was never offered for sale in the U.S. and A. People here often call the AF16E engine, which adorned the later Elite models, a Dio. The AF05E came on Aero and the '87-'93 Elite models is also considerably quicker and faster than the SB, as well as more affordable to purchase. I happen to like the idea of an 05 on the Spree/SB frame, because its performance is adequate but not overly ambitious considering the 80mm Spree brake. 45 should be plenty on those binders.

If you stay stock the ct carb intake is your best bet for a better carb. I've tested my stock spree with the mlm pipe with and without the air box and the larger jet. Not much difference in that I can't get the k&n filter wet or its a drag.
I am going to try my 21mm oko carb on my stock setup on my spree to see how it goes someday when I have time but hard to say how many more mph I'd get with the Increased flow if any.
