Premix advice
So after killing one cylinder I rebuilt the whole engine from scratch. New bearings and seals, a malossi bbk and head. Its got the multivar variator and and LV3 pipe. I have changed the belt to malossi and the centre spring and the clutch springs are also malossi. I left the carb and air box stock but I am finding it impossible to tune. So I have now ordered the malossi carb and filter (think its 19mm). I know I will have to premix. Will it be 32:1 or should I go to 25:1? I presume I can take off the oil pump and the tank once I start to premix?
Its a 1985 UK vision, well just about nowadays

Re: Premix advice
Seems like 32:1 is the golden number around here.

Re: Premix advice
get a pump plug for a af18 or af16 it will fit your af05e engine that way you can remove the oil pump all together and gain a little case pressure as well .Oh and id go with 32:1 with full synthetic 2 stroke oil

Re: Premix advice
Thanks for that. Ive already got fully synthetic so thats ok. Just so I am clear if I put 4 litres in the tank I need 128ml of oil?

Greetings:
4000/128 = 31.25. Close enough.
Plugs can be ordered from vendors like DayWOT, VT Cycles, JiangWayne.com. They're 10-$15.

Greetings:
I just re-examined my post. I'd like to say that I invented a Secret Code for Joke posts where they start with "Greetongs" but I'll be honest and say it was a typo. If a suitcase full of Arrow, Scorpion, and Hurricane exhausts fit safely in the Overhead Bin, I'd say you could make a killing when you return. But if YOU say that they'll arrest you at the King Kamehamehameha Airport.

Re: Premix advice
On my 90cc, I mix 200ml oil in every 10 liters of gas in a gas can, but I keep the oil pump since it keeps everything lubed during deceleration (downhill for example). The oil pump is there for a reason. The total oil ratio, (premix +oil pump) is about 30:1. Buy a cheap CHT gauge while you're doing final setup so you don't toast the thing:
http://www.ebay.com/bhp/traxxas-temp-gauge
You can remove the CHT when you're done tuning, and save it for your next build. It's cheap but won't last forever if you leave it installed with loose wires flapping in the breeze. It's also not waterproof.
With the CHT gauge installed, you'll see that your CHT rises rapidly when decelerating from WOT. That alone should be a clue that you should keep your oil pump.
