Picked this 01 Elite SR up today.

gonna have Graphite9 drop in some gears and variator and a new belt. as well as I will be putting in a new spark plug and maybe cleaning the carb. I will do a before and after for top speed.

Took the elite out today and ran it around for about 15 minutes and had it up to about 35 on the flats. Had the front wheel off the ground taking off from a stop sign. Throttle response is a bit iffy, not sure if the cable has to be adjusted or what. Gonna drive into to work tomorrow(7 miles) and put the new plug in and battery. Gonna have the mechanic look at it and see if we can't get dialed in a bit. The PO was having trouble getting it to start and it feels like he messed with the carb screws and who knows what else. Turned out to be a stuck throttle cable. So gonna Gps it on the way in and way back. Hopefully this weekend new variator, belt and gears.

Rode it to work it ran ok feels like it's struggling though. Did notice that from a stop there is a lag from when I hit the throttle to when it engages and moves. Any thoughts on that would great. Was below 50 degrees this morning and was only getting to about 30 on flats.

Gonna use this as my base to start. New plug and it runs better still slow in my opinion.

Turn the fuel mixture screw all the way in then back it out to 1.5-1.75 turns out. Easy way to figure out if your cable has too much slack is to grab the throttle, when its at rest, and try to make it to where the throttle is all the way closed then roll the throttle towards you and see if you can feel slack before it moves the carb slide. You know it's moving the slide by the slight resistance. A throttle that has slack is a throttle that may not be opening all the way up.
On to the "from a stop slow acceleration or hesistate for a moment" sounds like you need a new belt and possibly roller. If it were pulling the wheel one day then hesitating from a stop next day I would guess belt. Cvt really do not do well with from the stop wheelies or brake torque ing .

so I did check the throttle cable and there is a bit of play there and went and had a look at the manual and it doesnt really say how to adjust that. I could have missed it but looked at it quite a few times. if any can point how to adjust that it would be great. I am going to have a bunch of newb questions here at the start of owning this elite so please bear with me. thanks.

It's honestly like riding a different bike.
Hit 48 on a small downhill that turned flat and it has more. I cut back on the throttle due to traffic. Still might have an exhaust leak, I got a new ex gasket on order and gonna pull the muffler and rear wheel when that comes in.

New exhaust gasket in. And ran it 50 miles today and runs awesome. GPS from return trip last night after midnight in 50 degree weather. Doesn't like the chilly weather as much. But made this trip and only hit one red light.

Took the beast across town today and just loving the way this bike runs. First documented speed of 50 and this was the return trip which is more up hill.

Yeah overall was pleased went from Tigard to Nopo. 45 mins each way. Ran great a few spots I woulda like a bit more. But pulled up Barber blvd @42 with a great run at it so was pretty stoked. Kinda using that as my baseline. As that's only 45 mph st I need to go on.
