Motor mount options for SE50 motor into spree?

So I have a 87 SE50 motor swapped into my spree. I turned the spree's motor mount around and used old roller weights for spacers, which works but causes a vibration when the rear suspension compresses (part of the motor comes down and touches a metal part of the mount). I'm also not 100% sold on the rigidity of this technique either, but its more of a gut feeling after riding for a couple weeks. This has me looking into other options.

So, my questions are the following:

1) I remember reading about being able to trim down another type of mount for use in this type of swap, but haven't been successful in my searching. What mount would I use?

2) How much do I trim, and from which side?

Totally forgot about the wiki

So does anyone know if it has to be a '87 SE50 mount or would a '88-'93 elite mount work as well?

It has to be the 87 mount.

You may find a late model Aero 50 had the same mount as SE50. I have not had a chance to verify the Aero mount I have is exactly the same, but it looks like the SE50 mount.

See comparison pics/part fiche diagrams in this thread - link

So does your '87 Aero mount have a neck on it that fits into the frame tube?

I have a '85 Aero mount, but it is just flat like in the parts fiche pic you posted.

Yes - in the link above, the mount photo with a green towel as background is from my '87 Aero. My Aero is around S/N 3000, so the mount might be a hidden change.

Given the low s/n at which the mount showed up, I'm hopeful seekers of the SE50 style mount may find an additional source.

A 94-01 elite mount can be modded to fit too.

the se50 mount and the sa50 mount both can be used, but the sa 50 mount requires more cutting and the ability to weld.

So I just trimmed a '87 Aero motor mount up and used it like T-Jamz did in the wiki. The 'arms' that connect the tubes that hold the bolts are a little wider, so the left one gets trimmed a bit, not a problem structurally but when you're doing the cutting by hand with a hacksaw its a little annoying.

I actually started out using a cheapo hacksaw and broke it , so now I have a nice heavy duty one. Made the final cut a lot easier (took me a couple tries to get the right length), and left me wishing I had it from the start.
