Anyone rain proof a pod filter?

Post by devenex »

Winter is fast approaching here in the PNW and I'm hoping to make my swapped spree rideable in wet weather. I believe the stock af05 airbox will not fit under the spree plastics, so this leaves me searching for ways to water shield the pod filter I currently have installed.

Has anyone successfully done this? Or is there some aftermarket airbox that will fit the stock carb and squeeze in the spree's body panels?

Will adding an Outerwears Pre-Filter stop water ingestion? - 11/03/2004
The Outerwears Pre-filter is an excellent solution to prevent water from entering into the engine due to puddles or heavy rainstorms. An Outerwears Pre-Filter is designed to be water repellent and will reduce the risk of water entering through an air intake system. Although our Pre-Filters are proven to be extremely effective in repelling water, please keep in mind they are not water proof. If submerged, your intake can hold or pass water. I took a blue plastic cup and cut it to length and used a self tapping screw to attach it to the pod and cut purge holes in the bottom :D they sell covers for the pods I think. I know they sell the same kind with transparent covers on them already

hi Devinex. I picked up a polini blue filter from graphite. Looks very good for protection against rain.
