Polini Clutch Springs

Post by johnny248 »

Polini 3G For Race clutch 249.049 comes with green, yellow, and blue springs. Looking at Polini 245.072 which is also a blue color, although it is a darker shade of blue. The spring diameter is also slightly larger. the 245.072 is about .362" , and the blue springs that came with the clutch are about .32" . Does anyone know if these 245.072 are supposed to be a higher rpm/heavier spring than the ones that came with the clutch? Or are they just a replacement blue spring that happens to have a variation in build/design (different supplier or something) If it is supposed to be a higher spring, does anyone know what rpm they are for?

Thanks

I see that chart, but here is a picture of the springs side by side. The spring on the left is from the 245.072, the spring on the right came with the clutch. The left spring is slightly larger diameter, .362 vs .320 and is also shorter than the spring on the right, 1.55 vs 1.67.

Also, the booklet says "the clutch is supplied with black springs that grant you a clutch bite of about 4500 rpm and white springs that bring the clutch bite to 6000 rpm" However, the clutch came with green springs installed, and a bag with a set of yellow and blue springs also. And then, it proceeds to say approximate clutch bite WHITE spring adjustable from 5500rpm-6750rpm, BLUE spring adjustable form 6750rpm-8000rpm. so, I don't even know what is going on there...

Shorter and thicker gauge will be the tighter spring. Tighter= later engagement

It's confusing that there are two different blue springs?

Also, the booklet says "the clutch is supplied with black springs that grant you a clutch bite of about 4500 rpm and white springs that bring the clutch bite to 6000 rpm" However, the clutch came with green springs installed, and a bag with a set of yellow and blue springs also. best clutch right now is the stage-6, one turn at a time can dial you in, preset springs are set, with fade they will get lighter.
some people dream of speed, i own your dreams!
