My scooter....want it faster

Post by impalo »

I bought this scooter last month. It honestly goes about 45+mph, not exactly sure. But the needle almost disappears.
The owner said it had a racing clutch and exhaust. I'm not really sure what they are. Here are some pics of the lower sides, maybe that can help. What can I purchase next for an upgrade? Nothing crazy, just better parts and performance to last.

Here's a thought for you :

Ride your Elite for an entire year.
It is apparently running VERY good.
Be very pleased with your current scooter status,
and keep that scooter tuned up and maintained properly.
Spend the year having loads of fun riding.
Then, next year, when you have some experience and knowledge of scooter mechanics,
decide if you want to move forward with some modifications to take you into an advanced stage of scootering.
So many people start with a decent bike,
and then work on it until it's a messed up shambles the first month they own it,
because they don't have any skills.
and it ends up rotting in the elements.
By no means am I saying you will be "that guy"...only that experience riding and
caring for a scooter are essential for owners of a "tuned bike".
Happy trails...... :urban:

If your doing 45 that's pretty good unless you need to go faster to keep up with traffic and want not. Enjoy it for a bit. Temp gauge and God app to see exactly how fast your going is a good idea. I'd try to determine what's on there parts wise get it tuned up nicely then start thinking about what's next. my sr with gears and variator hit high 40s with no effort I'd start there. I read d*** near every post about elites on here before I tore into mine and started breaking things.

I would listen, these guys know what there talking about. If you want something to play with, get a variator kit w some weights. And everything else graphite9 said haha, buy the vario will make it "faster" depending what you want from that, be it top speed or acceleration, which these scoots are killer at btw. On my own build I've decided that top speed is taking a back seat to acceleration, light to light is way more fun than having to lug away from a stop just to hit 60. I wouldn't bother with gears or trying to go faster than 45-50. Get a bigger bike if you want speed haha.

What kind of pipe is that? I would *think* with such a large header pipe that it is definitely designed for a bbk.

On side note , is there anything different between the sr and sa engine wise to make them faster? Or does it juse use a different variator design and unrestricted exhaust, air box, and different carb?

I thought that I remembered reading along time ago that there was something about the SR that you could change. Maybe the variator for some reason? I can't remember exactly what I was reading, but I vaguley remember something about performance parts not really being available. I'm not sure what or why.

Am I crazy, or should this not go 52mph with just a variator, Clutch, and pipe? Maybe I'm wrong , but I thoughbthey were only good for about 45 without a bigger cylinder?

Btw, what is an "Sef Black"?

Being in the 50s is very possible with that set up.. Sef Is a Japan Brand, There was a Sef Black, Sef Majik, and another pipe but I forget what its called.. Sef made parts about 12+ Years ago. Theres a picture of A Brand New Sef Majik on My Black Smile in the Pictures thread.

Oh.... Now that I saw the listing, I see that it does infact have a bigger bore on it. In that case, I would think it would be faster than that.

Am I wrong about the lack of available mods for the SR? Maybe I read something like that a few years ago from VT?
