Post by MrJumps »

I went up and down on the zx trans guide and I cant find what size shim to run on the clutch/driven pully. Anyone know this off hand or can link it to me?

You may be talking about shimming out the front cover which is the kick starter as there is the possibility of contact when using a zx variator boss. I think wheelman-111 has the inside scoop on it but I also had to shim out mine to avoid kicker mushroom gear making contact with the drive face pulleys' kick start engagement gear. I actually only had to shim out on 4 of the cover bolts with 1mm washers. This is on a motor with a Malossi 53 7604 crankshaft, 95mm Polini variator and zx boss.

graphite9 wrote:GY6 rear pulleys are different, they rub the case. At least the ones I have seen do. Everything else is spot on. The shim in my kit is for the boss. on the rear its a direct swap. I bet you will be 17/18mm. if you measure and let me know I might have some for ya.
I have no way of mussuring. But its an af16 with the 2 bearing trans. Dont know if that helps. Bones knows what I have, all I know is an engine is a vacume and the better air floes through it the faster it spins and so forth.

Greetings:

If you have a ZX transmission, you already have the larger-diameter rear pulley assembly. The rear pulley is already designed to accommodate the 18mm-wide ZX belt, and so it needs no shimming. Where you DO need a shim is up front. Most of the kits I have seen come with a 2.5mm longer FRONT pulley boss, so the DRIVE face is correctly positioned to allow the wider belt to drop closer to center. If you didn't get a ZX boss, you can purchase the Daytona (maybe other brands) shim washers to put behind the S transmission boss. I have found some that work in various thicknesses at Home Depot and Ace Hardware. Again, you need to add about 2.5mm of clearance between the variator and the outer sheave of the drive face for the belt to give you maximum "down-gear" and that satisfyingly-sprightly off-the-line Go, even with taller gears.

What? You changed the axle? The driven pulley axle I sent him was installed in the used motor he got from me.
It was an oem honda sa50/af16 axle.

I didnt change the axel I have an GY6 pully left over from the kit I brought to do the china clutch mod on the spree motor. I have not changed anything on the new motor except for the trans cover which is the same style.

I just need to find or figure out this pully issue then move on to the list of every growing problems.

graphite9 wrote:that pulley is the issue. its for GY6 not dio.

that being said you might just need some shims for front and back. I know exactly what your experiencing, the ruckus rear pulley also fits dio but it rubs the case.
Okay thank you g9, pave the road I will follow.
