ok i just got this spree form my grandad its an 84 model and has 3700 miles on it. its ran good butit will only about 10 on flat land and 22 down hill and its not a small hill. im not shure how fast one of these things should go on flat land. but i have cleaned the carberater and changed the spark plug.. also the acceleration sucks. it wont carery me uphill at all. and its slow form flat land..im planning on decarbonizing it soon.. but what do yall think it is. any suggestions would help.

my guess is you dont have an airfilter/airbox. you NEED it!

yea it gots an air filter and air filter box.. but i dont no now cuz i just went a decarbonized it and it did nithing ..so i gues the next thing ill do is check the cmpression.. i hope its not that cuz i odnt feel like changing them rings
.could it be the clutch plates..or anything to do with the transmision.

to answer your first question it should go from 28-30 mph. does it bog or rev but it doesnt move fast. if it revvs hight but doesnt have any power it is the belt or clutch. did you replace the head gasket when you decarbonized?

noit didnt need a new one. also is the stock head gasket metal. but im thinkin its hte compression. but im not shure.

it needs a new gasket as soon as you loosen the bolts. it may look fine but it is now crushed and wont seal as good as it once did. these are very precision parts under high psi and heat.

the bottom air/fuel screw should be 1 7/8ths turns out. is this the way it is set?

I had this problem, and it was the eletronic choke not opening and flooding out the engine(I believe thats what that thing is). Decarbonizing everything also did me a world of good.

Just for a test, try pulling loose the air filter tube from the carb and cover the carb opening up a tiny bit over half way with some tape and see if it will rev up and run faster.

ok ill try that with the duct tape. when i decarbonized the piston the piston was a little loose i dont no if its normal or not but its not bad but just enough to notice.. and yes the air screw mixture is set right. also will it crank with low compresion and if it is the compression what will i have to do.
