1999 Elite S w/ Polini Corsa: What GEARS ?

Post by hondapowersr »

I am about to purchase the corsa, a gianneli pipe, polini vari, 24mm polini carb and stage six intake, yellow clutch spring, set of 4 different clutch engagement springs, and disc brake conversion for my 1999 derestricted S. Can anyone recommend secondary gears, I'm confused on the two numbers they go by, I always thought it was 9:1 but it's listed different. And should I get primary gears to

Greetings:

Not all the listed gears will be easy to find. Be aware that 9:1 gears work pretty well on an otherwise completely stock Elite, so with all the go-faster goodies you're getting, you could consider going a good bit taller. 8.44:1 will still move out faster than a stock engine on 12:1s, and allow top speed to exceed 60. To get to 70 or more, 7.97 or 7.58s are a better choice. If you're happy at 55-60 with monster acceleration, 9:1s are an option.

Awesome thanks for the info guys. I ordered polini variator, 16/42 secondary gears, molassi yellow 1500 contra spring, and a set of polinI clutch springs, aND as my scooter is derestricted, ordered a jet kit, to stick a 78 jet in. For now that should get me to 50ish. Ordering the corsa kit, gianelli pipe, and polini carb/intake combo next week.

Save some cash and skip buying a jet kit for the stock carb since you’ll ditch it when you go Corsa. Why buy parts you’ll use for a week? Gotta buy main/pilot kits for new carb too anyways.

I wanted to be able to ride it until I put the corsa kit on. And the 68 jet that is in it is not safe in my opinion so I have not been running it at all until it comes. It's only 18 bucks. And my friends have elites, and it's nice to be able to help my other scooter buds be able to find what jet they need so they can order single's in the future.
