Does your Spree/Elite already run great, and you're trying to make it quicker/faster? Need a monster motor swap? Discuss your ideas here.

Adding lead to the gas(?) does not increase compression. Lead raises the octane rating of the gasoline allowing you to run higher compression. You get higher compression by shaving the head.

Let's give it a try, how hard could it be?

Fishing Weights

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

The octane-raising additive that used to be added to motor fuel was a chemically complex substance called Tetra-ethyl Lead.
You can read all about it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetra-ethyl_lead

Check this before you go dumping all your old fishing weights in the fuel tank, raise your compression to Diesel levels and blow up.

I will say that over time your tank will become nicely polished inside... :) And your nether zones will be well-protected from ground radiation. Rethinking, maybe that's not such a good idea...

Survival of the fittest wheelman.

If you want to raise octane, just buy race gas. We have turbo blue in our area, guess what? Still has lead in it. Or you could check out touline and other addatives. IMO, not worth it at all unless you're doing some crazy race engine.

Coming before my death, the water cooled spree!
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
