Any thoughts on the Piaggio Typhoon 50
Whats up fellas? I am looking at this bike around my way which was very seldom used and a good price.
Trying to find out if anyone here owns or has previously owned one, and what you think about them.
Thanks

Not quite sure but it is in recent years.
At least an '05.
I was told it was bought in 2008
only 300 miles on it.

In europe alot of guys use them but here in the states not so much because its hard to get parts if something breaks and only a few places can bring in those parts so they can control the cost of the parts.so it can get pricey.
Nothing like getting stroked!

thanks, bak. I figured so, being Vespa product.
It's been hard to find a good review on it, though.
I might just pass on it anyways.

They make alot of aftermarket stuff for it and the fly but alot of that stuff is sold in europe and only a few places sell aftermarket parts for it.if there was more stuff for to get here in the states that bike would be the s*** to ride.

That scooter shares the same engine as Gilera and some Aprilia models. Still not common, but widens the options a bit.

I don't know about parts but the body reminds me of the newer honda cub so I vote go for it

Dang, $1500 bucks, 6000 miles, a bit steep.eliteguy50 wrote:Just for an idea of the market: http://madison.craigslist.org/mcy/1676882349.html
The one I was looking at was only $500 with 314 miles on it driven by a 14 yr old girl, in perfect condition.
I had to pass on it to fix crap around the house.
Sometimes it hurts to look.

Re: Any thoughts on the Piaggio Typhoon 50
I have that scooter. It is awesome but heavy. I have a expansion chamber pipe and a 47mm BBK installed. It handles smooth. My elite sr is faster by far but I still love to ride my piaggio typhoon. I like to show it off. Remeber that scooter retailed for around 4600 to 5500 and sold at vespa shops. If I recall right vespa, piaggio, and derbi merged so you know it is quality all the way. If you can get that at a good price jump on it. It gets respect from all scooter heads. I have never ran into anyone who doesnt like an italian scooter.
