indiana riders beware!!!!

Post by odinxxix »

dont know if anybody else has heard but we here in lafayette have had 4 wreaks in 2 weeks involving scooters. 3 were drunk and 1 was just not paying attention. but as a result of this we have been getting alot of flak. our senator RON ALTING wants to push his bill to make us all take motorcycle classes get the endorsement, and require us to have a liscense, plates and insurance. his thinking is that it will reduce the number of wrecks. :*: if you ask me its more the people in cars not paying attention to us and the fact that we are not allowed to keep up with traffic. so we need to write to RON ALTING to try and stop him from pushing this bill.

Anything that travels above 25mph is considered a motorcycle in Indiana and requires plates & insurance.

It only takes 2-3 people to ruin it for everyone.

Yeah, more money does make entry into riding harder, but I know i would see fewer reckless thoughtless scooter riders in town if they all needed the Rider Safety course.

I am contemplating taking the course myself to get the motorcycle endorsement ( the course is required for M class license in FL)

Honestly with all the crazy people riding scooters in my area I feel that atleast some classes should be required. It's unbelievable the crazy things I see people do.

classes yes i agree with, but makeing us get a motorcycle endorsement and plates(etc..) will put some of the people that rely on this as their only transportation in the unemployed line. buses here dont run til 8 am and stop at 8 pm. that knocks out first shift and third shift. my job is days only and there are atleast 15 scooters in the lot when i arrive at 5 am. you know some people are strapped for cash hench why they ride the scooter. easy on gas and cost less to operate then a car. i know of the 15. 8 use it because of that. the other 7 well they got dui,owi and lost the liscense.

When I had my Trek, I would hit 25mph often. Wonder if they'll make me get plates.
