February 7th and i saw a man mowing his lawn this week....my hedge has new growth all over it....so far this winter Nashville has had one snow of 1/4" that was gone the next day....I came in from outside and found a cricket had crawled up my pants leg....average daily high temp has been in the 50's with some days reaching the high 60's.....these are surely some curious times....... :urban:

My landlord was fixing the broken window in my house, and told me that he was walking in the woods behind his rural home and got attacked by hoards of mosquitos....56 degrees today.

The habit (that i developed over 40 years) of removing batteries and draining fuel during winter months has become totally needless....I averaged 80-90 miles a week during January on the Aero

Down here in Atlanta it is 60 today. Last Sunday I went for a ride in shorts and a t-shirt - hit 70 degrees. I rarely do anything more than pull in batteries and hook 'em up to tenders once it gets below freezing. To the best of my recollection, we have only had 2 nights it got that cold - kinda creepy, but nice.

Do the bugs really get worse after a mild winter or is that an old wive's tale?

Not a wive's tale....more insects after a mild winter due to the eggs, larvae, and adults that survive when the ground doesn't freeze very deep....my understanding.... :urban:

Mother Nature figures for a pretty good die off during the winter and a mild winter does not kill many so more bugs the next year.

I am looking at getting a Hodaka Ace 100 to restore and relive my youth with. Does anyone know if the hodaka 250 engine is a direct bolt in?

Try the above link and go to the bottom of that page to see the Hodaka 250 trials bike.
Is this the 250 motor you are referring to ??.....maybe you can compare this to an ACE picture and at least get an approximation.... :hi:

I can't tell if that is the same engine. The engine I am looking at is caked in mud. I think the frame offers the physical space but the Ace frame is cherry. I don't want to drill or weld on it. The backbone is even factory.

You are right, all it takes is money. I will have to talk with my local machine shop about an adapter plate.
