as far as cheap new scooters go,

id look into a Yamaha Vino. performance parts are EVERYWHERE and cheap and the bike itself is only about 1600-1800 bux. probably cheaper this time of year...

I like the eton beamer matrix about 1800 to 2000 bucks
Comes with nice storage compartment in back and high performance
exhaust . Nice big 12" tires and looks mean and cool. Does about 45 miles per hour with the performance exhaust and is still a 49cc engine.

My 2 cents on off brands. Get yourself a used Honda scooter, or at least a Japanese version of something. A new 50cc off-brand may cost as much as a good used Elite, and thus seem a better value. It's not.

You will always be able to get parts for the Elite. Not sure you can say the same for the Chinese scoots. And they often cut corners on everything from rings to fasteners.

If you must buy Chinese makes, make sure to do some research on them to find out how the owner's experience is, preferable over a year or two's time and a couple thousand miles.

There are many a 5000+ mile Spree/Elites on the road. They were more like to be retired than expired, from what I've seen. Not sure we'll be able to say the same for all makes of current Chinese scoots.

i agree, either get a new one that is reliable and built from a known name, or get something used that is proven to work.

Yeah if your gonna get a new one don't bother waisting your time on those cheap scooters in the 700 to 900 range. You get what you pay for.

just a note, stock "performance exhausts" arent really that. It might look like one, but won't replace a true peformance exhaust.
projects galore :nerd:
