is the elite larger in any way than the aero?
not really but i personally found theres more foot space if that makes sence, ive got longer legs so i just found being able to put my feet eitherside of the glovebox alot more comfortable than how i sit on my aero.

well that makes perfect sense. and it should be worth considering if i was your height  thank you for the input sir.

Started with prepping the plastic panels. Sanding all the way to the plastic was my plan. Not easy though. I soon learned the panels still have the original primers, color paint, a coat of water-based lacquer and another coat of acrylic flat black.

Engine is stock. Everything is. The variator, belt, clutch and everything inside that left hand cover are similar to that of an AF16. Everything else in the motor is different. I know. I have been fiddling with it for quite some time now. All labels are in Nipongo (Japanese). This could be a Japanese Aero (?)

here's how my project went.

my plan was to strip to plastic.but no way im gonna try paint stripper unless i want the plastic fairings melted.
so no choice but to wet-sand. 240grit then 600grit to smoothen. took me 3days to get to this.

Image

then one coat plastic primer, three coats epoxy primer (plastic primers are so expensive)

Image

repaired some cracked parts with flexible epoxy cement.

Image

applied silver as base color for those that will be finished with pearl white.

Image

this gold for the inner body.

Image

the bike waits as i proceed.

Image

stripped the aluminum parts to metal then primed with gray epoxy primer.

Image

stripped and primed the rims too (was rusted all over).

Image

here's what i decided to use as topcoat for the inner body. premixed polyurethane spray from ace. i prefer the matte (not glossy) finish for the inner parts that are frequently held or touched.
some pro painters may doubt but this thing is hard as rock when applied and dried properly. it should protect the painted floorboard against scratches for years.
all the other fairings i painted with acrylic topcoat.

Image

this topcoat is tried and tested on the wooden body of my rifle below.

Image

i stripped, primed and painted the tank too. applied same ace brand topcoat. makes the paint resistant against gasoline spills.

Image

the finished instruments panel. everything in there works.

Image

finished rear right. pipe was stripped, primed, painted flat black then applied ace poly topcoat.
heat guard is custom made chrome sheet metal.
seat was reupholstered to go with the color theme.

Image

front left. some attention to detail helped.

Image

rear left. i mixed the gold tone for the aluminum engine cover.
flat black then poly topcoat for the airbox. silver for the rims.
i want to save the color contrast.

Image

the finished product.
still looking for a decent chrome finished pair of side mirrors and stainless front basket. then will have the rear carrier chromed too.

Image

all in all it took me 9days to do everything. i work with it at least 5hours each day.

thank you for your time everyone!

The project went well! It's nice to see someone take the time to revive a classic. :)
What's more is that there isn't too many of these around, which makes it a wee bit unique. It's a nice change from all the other current popular models there in the Philippines (dio, dio1, dio2, dio3, jazz, etc.). Thanks for sharing!
