Greetings:
Interesting question indeed. My Top 12 reasons to ride a Vintage Honda 2-Stroke:
12. All major parts small enough to clean in the dishwasher.
11. Can always think of something to make it a little... Better.
10. Enjoy tinkering, but few special tools and little talent, so need to keep it simple.
9. I live in an upstairs apartment without a workshop if I'm doing major disaassembly.
8. A larger bike would be more practical for longer commutes/errands but the 2-stroke 50 is (barely) fast enough
7. I can't carry more than 140 pounds up the 18 (You develop a keen sense of this...) stairs to the Wheelman Boudoir.
6. Honda 50 is reliable.
5. Plus it's cheap; I could spend everything I have in the Honda just buying a dang exhaust for the Sportster...
4. Low budget impact = harmony with Ms. Wheelperson.
3. Floorboards provide handy space to keep tools organized.
2. Open design permits ladylike dismounts.
And the Number One reason to ride a Vintage Honda: (WIth apologies to Robert DuVall)
1. I love the smell of 2-Stroke in the morning. It smells like ... Frugality.

Honestly, I had a Spree that my uncle gave me when I was 9 years old. We used to throw it in the back of his Vdub and head to the park every weekend! That was such a blast! I guess what I'm trying to say is that it kinda makes me feel like a kid again. Such joy that little machine brought into my life

No way your Honda muscle has been growing. That shiny new AF16 Elite is 143 dry. All those Aero workouts paid off

To get a Gyro, had to be Honda. Sticking to Honda for the '98 SR is because this group is fun.

Greetings:
Yeah, I have a funny downstairs neighbor lady who came up with this:
"Ya know, most people would just join a gym...".
However pointless movement of metal isn't my style. On second thought; considering the modding habit, then maybe not.

I think Honda's bigger units were more reliable, like the C70 or the Cub. but I have gotten honda's because that is typically what I stumble across at a resonable price (most commonly but still a rare occurance). I have had less problems with my Yamahas but that is mostly dirtbikes.Wheelman-111 wrote:6. Honda 50 is reliable.
anyways...I got into Honda scoots because my introduction to scooting was a 1983 Aero 80 and then the first scoot I found was a 1989 Elite E.
Are your stairs on the building interior or exterior? we used to put down a 1x4 and just ride them up our stairs (d*** lazy college kids...lol)Wheelman-111 wrote:7. I can't carry more than 140 pounds up the 18 (You develop a keen sense of this...) stairs to the Wheelman Boudoir.

It helps me survive the summer when not riding my snowmobile. It being a two-stroke really makes me miss the old(new) snowmachine.

got my spree in 1990 for $300 and rode it everyday to college and parked it every night in the kitchen (up stairs) was always reliable and had NEVER EVER left me stranded. used to fill the tank with premium unleaded for 25 cents and ride all week. to this day this little scooter is running and looking as good as it ever has. Loaned it to 2 girlfriends and my mom and always got it back in one piece. Its a honda and that is all id ever get in a scooter.
