Was told it's a banana bike, looks to be from the 70's but not too sure.

Any thoughts? It's for sale if anyone's interested. Any info on brand and year would be a huge help!

You frame has the style of banana seat or earlier bikes. Can't help much other than say its not a Schwinn frame. Rear dropouts on yours are huge and the flattened tube joints at the dropouts say 'not Schwinn'.

Yeah I'm seeing that. You think it could still be a real early one? This is brazed together with brass instead of welded. Signifying it may be from some time in the 60's. It's got a pretty primitive design.

Non-Schwinn forks, looks to be possibly a Sears, never saw the rears look like that on a Schwinn.

I have that green Stingray in the picture. Looks just like that.

As for your purple bike, I do not believe it to be a Schwinn either. Prolly a Sears or Jc Penny bike.

Murray stingray knockoff from the late 70's I had one parents cheaped out and didnt get a Schwinn. I got an Apple Krate Later

Huh - Schwinn StingRay and Apple Krate, you guys had some nice bikes. I have no idea what a restored 'Krate sells for now, but wouldn't be surprised to see it beating out many of our scooters.

wikked_spree57 - I've been goofing off some looking for a bike with those curved stays and a fork crown like that.... Maybe an AMF? See pic.
Also - the cranks on your bike look pretty long, maybe been changed at some point?

Ouch - I like the 'Krates, but trading a couple scooters would hurt more right now I think its the 'Krates/'Peelers etc are the max for style and fun along with the '8 ball' - baddest shifter ever...

wikked_spree57 - keep looking for the history on your bike. Some other brands might be really rare. Besides restored, most any of the bikes are unique. Post a close of of the forks (although they may have been swapped...) too, it might help identify the bike.

Mouse - Yes, I changed it. The original was bent all to * like someone threw it, but the rest was undamaged. The crank I still have and plan to straighten/new crank plate. The one on it is from a Huffy BMX, it was temporary for looks pretty much.

I got another frame like this but the dropouts aren't so huge. Maybe it's a krate or stingray? Looks alot sturdier.

I'm getting into the business of bike restoration, looking at powdercoating equipment, etc.

I'll get new ones of the forks.
