I hate my job part 2

I don't like my town either. I applied for a position in Portland OR. Never been there, but I have a friend there from Muskegon, and he says its great. An hour and a half from skiing, an hour and a half from the coast. Stuff to do. Work to be had.
I have a wife and two kids. This is a big deal. Portland isn't set in stone, but after our Puerto Rican adventure, were ready to live a different life. One in a place that brings us more opportunities for work, and play.

I have literally been in every state except for Alaska and this is where I have found my home. great city to live in if you are active and enjoy great beer and food. And the plus side is great scooting around town. Look at a map I live in Tigard right next to beaverton and ride my elite into Portland all the time and can ride year round (mostly) gonna be 60 tomorrow!

A few nice hospitals in the area? My wife is an ICU nurse.

Im not hugely into beer or food at this point. I dont drink (unless im on vac apparently) and as long as there are fruits and veggies at the local supermarket.
My wife and I want a new environment. Ive lived in Muskegon for all 35 years of my life. Her 34. We want adventure. We want nicer weather. We want a more exciting life for our kids. I want to not have to commute an hour each way to work. Is tigard nice? In regards to the portland/beaverton burbs how does it relate as far as schools/crime/cost of living?
So many questions.

Tigard has great schools is why we picked it to live in. traffic well if you stay close to where your company is you'll be fine. Traffic has gotten worse over the last few years but still compared to other major cities it's nothing. I can be downtown portland faster on my scooter due to knowing the back roads. Takes me 20-30 mins on it. I personally love Tigard over beaverton or other sw parts of town. Still feels like a town/community but still close to everything. the Pacific Northwest is unlike any other environment mild winters mild summers and once you get used to the rain and see it for what it is it's incredible. There are great hospitals close by.

On my morning walk just down the street. Regularly see a bald eagle around my hood. Pretty awesome for still being in a major metropolitan area. One of the main reasons I love Ptown is the fact that stuff like that isn't uncommon. One of the greenest cities I've lived in. Amazing to me to find old growth still hiding in a residential neighborhood!

We get snow maybe twice a year and usually only an inch or so.

Probably rent for a year or two in case we decided to bail. Owning a home hasn't treated us well here. The economy collapsed soon after we bought 10 years ago. We've been sort of stuck.
