My family is taking a vacation to Oregon to scope areas to potentially relocate to. Portland, Medford/Ashland and Bend are on the agenda.

Cold in Bend? Check the forecast for Muskegon MI, and the month of January and February this year. Bend is like a trip to the desert for me.

Id like to find a nice laid back piece of Oregon that still has work available. Muskegon is a nice laid back town, but I commute an hour to Grand Rapids everyday. The people in Muskegon are much more chill than in GR.

My wife is a RN and I've got an Electronics degree. If there are good jobs, we could probably get one. We both have them here, but again, mine is a hour from my house

If you go north in Michigan the pace gets slower. People are nicer, and its just a better place to be. Thats what I want to find out there.
Were running into a considerable hiccup with flight cost, and length of travel time. Its very expensive to fly to Oregon, and its about a half days travel. Its testing our desire to relocate there. We have to consider our family and how accessible we are to them.

Funny Whitey! Yes that hipster pic is right on and there are lots those. But the cool thing is Portland lets you be whomever you want to be. You just learn to ignore them. Portland isn't for everyone for sure but it's one of the chillest cities around hands down.

With a low of -1 tonight I'd say it's way chill here in Muskegon

Nice whitey, but I like the portland kind of chill. Were still up in the air here. I know you guys are saying that Medford/Ashland is the butthole, but the weather there looks great! Geographically cool too. Ive even spoken with employers out of Redding CA.
Ill be honest, weather has a huge impact on our decision. We may be flying into Denver to look at the front range area. Its a little cliche for people here to move there, but its drivable in a long day. Oregon is surely a flight.

Well, the flights are booked. Me and the family will be in Oregon the first week of April. Portland, the Butthole and Bend we'll be visiting. Yay!
