How to test specific components.

Like the rectifier, magnetic pickup and ignition controller if possible. This is on my Linhai PowerMax 50 four stroke, I know this is a Spree forum and I appreciate that but in general what applies to one should be able to be applied to another. You guys are far more knowledgeable than most of the other forums so I was hoping you could help me out. I'd like to get this running and sell it so I can buy another Spree the local bike shop has, 200 original miles, it's complete and in very good shape.

Here's my problem. It has no spark. I've tested the coil separately and it works. I've got continuity through the magnetic pickup (magneto?) and power and ground to the controller. Nothing comes out of the one wire that goes from the pickup (magneto) to the ignition controller and both coil terminals are grounded all the time. Any help would be appreciated. I'm really tired of this piece of crap and just want to get it running so I can off it. Thanks again.
