Questions about 1982 Suzuki FA50
I recently picked up a 1982 Suzuki FA50 with 1,700 miles. It is in really good condition. It had sat inside a barn for a few years without being run. The seller got it running, had to put some seafoam inside the gas tank to clean out the crud. It did not have a battery, I ordered one. The inside of the battery compartment was empty besides the wires for the battery. Is there supposed to be any other components to the battery compartment like a strap or anything else that secures the battery in place. Also, it does take a bit to start the engine up, but once is starts it runs really well. I put ethanol free gas in it. So the seller advised a carb cleaning. Is there a manual choke on this model? I did not notice one. I also do not see a fuel filter anywhere. Thanks

Dumb me. Just found the choke lever on the left side handlebar. Also see there is 2 mini fuel filters below the fuel tank https://www.treatland.tv/suzuki-fa50-OE ... -27001.htm

The parts fiche may be of help. Here is the one for the carb. It doesn't look to have a traditional choke, but has an assembly on the side called the "startar valve": The choke lever you found may work the "Startar Valve"

Thanks for the information. Interesting on "Startar Valve". So it looks like Hondapartshouse has a OEM Carb for 136.93. I would much pay a bit more money for OEM carb any day to save headaches.

So far engaging the choke lever is more gimmick than its function.
