New to site...Need advice for my spree
First off, I have to say, this website is an amazing resource. I just bought a 1987 Spree, and it's mint. It honestly goes 35 top, if pinned and given the space. But...I want more. If I put a 44mm big bore on it, did a pulley mod, and put a new belt on it; what kind of speed could I expect? Please give me your opinions, and knowledge...I am open to criticism. Please don't tell me to do a engine swap or buy a new scooter though.

I don't really have a set budget...but I want to keep the spree engine in it. Oh can anyone tell me if aftermarket spree exhausts even exist??
Re: New to site...Need advice for my spree
aftermarket spree exhaust does not exist. the 44mm bbk adds about 1-3 mph. the pulley mod will get you another 1-2 if lucky but takes away low end grunt check for the clutch mod thread to get it back if mod is done. also get a set of the gears as this will help top speed. also you can squeeze in a 3.00X10 tire on the rear to get more. but clearence may be an issue. i put on the 2.75X10 and it fits good.

Re: New to site...Need advice for my spree
so what are some of the creative exhaust mods that people have done and been pleased with ?
Re: New to site...Need advice for my spree
well if it's got a washer in the down pipe, dremel that out, and up jet to a 78? i believe is the most common, and Also drill (2) 1/4 inch holes in the airbox if those mods are done.

If you are getting 35mph now that is very good.mm1493 wrote:First off, I have to say, this website is an amazing resource. I just bought a 1987 Spree, and it's mint. If you put the 44mm bbk, use a small UNI filter, and upjet the carb you will go 35mph, but you will do it more quickly.
Your TOP SPEED will not change if nothing is done to the transmission
Don't drill holes in your air box. If you do the bbk then get a UNI filter,if you stay at 49cc use the stock air boxtoboggan wrote:well if it's got a washer in the down pipe, dremel that out, and up jet to a 78? i believe is the most common, and Also drill (2) 1/4 inch holes in the airbox if those mods are done.

mill the head .020 .that will bring the compression up to give you more torque for better bottom end and put the larger 3.00 tire on for a added 3-5mph.mm1493 wrote:First off, I have to say, this website is an amazing resource. Or rather than mill your head, just find a 1984 or 85 head and install it. The easly engines had a smaller combustion chamber because the piston was dished.
