Working on a Japan Gyro UP
OK I always wanted a Gyro UP they just look so weird .
Finally found one on Craigslist but it was in Miami ,That was a whole ordeal .But finally got it to Vegas .
Forget getting a service manual . Parts not easy to find . Its hard to try and figure out what was done to this over the last few years lots of tie wraps holding things together and a lot of guessing what is supposed to go where and what is missing ? Well here goes .

Re: Working on a Japan Gyro UP
Everything on this Gyro UP is different from any other Gyro sold in America .
The brake levers are motorcycle size .
Both wheels spin / bolt pattern on rear wheels is different from American sold gyros
Has a kick start / engine is compleatly different / I have been mixing fuel but it looks like they took out the oil tank
but who knows where it might have gone ? Does anyone have one of these ? I have a ton of questions .

There was no speedo cable so took one off a spree kinda almost fit got it up to 40 Km.
Also swapped out the ignition had 5 wires 2 were ground ( Thanks to Tazz he has some good aftermarket units that fit a lot of bikes )

Re: Working on a Japan Gyro UP
Thanks for the tip but I have searched there , and always the same thing batterys / cables / brake pads.
There are a few other things that fit windscreens / seat covers / bike covers .
Its always the same thing.... Google Gyro batteries you will find 100 try to do a search for a gyro stater or carb cover .
Once you put Gyro in front of anything the price goes up .
But I am sure you already know that .
I don't even think they made a service manual in english ? ( I think I need to do some checking in New Zeland thats where I was looking for one like this befor and there seemed to be quite a few )
I still would like to find someone else with this model and just ask a lot of questions .
But on the other hand its fast on the take off but I need to do some carb work to get the top end a little faster.
Also it seems to be different steering not as responsive as the American versions ,its like driving a truck .

Re: Working on a Japan Gyro UP
Greetings:
Keep in mind that the Gyro exported to the US was for recreation and sport. In other parts of the world, they use this things for utility - as in actually carrying stuff. The Spree GVWR is something like 300 pounds, including rider and bike. The US Gyro probably has a similar rating. Not so good for carrying a load of rocks from the quarry...
