Re: My First Spree Swap (Aero NH125)
Looks good brother! "literary brother" when I road it up and down the street the first thing that supposed me is the acceleration It also ride much better than a stock spree, smoother, brakes feel better, stops faster. You need to put that GPS in your pocket and really see what top speed you can find.
Re: My First Spree Swap (Aero NH125)
I've been messing around with custom speedometer faces, increasing the MPH numbers.
I scanned the stock face.
Printed it out and laminated, but it's kinda faded looking. Need to try it on a high quality printer.

Re: My First Spree Swap (Aero NH125)
It's all experimental right now, once it's riding weather again I plan on carrying a GPS with me and make marks on the speedo. Then I'll re-edit the face to be more accurate, might also have to do the same with on my stock spree (small wheel), if I decide to sell these.
There's also the issue with the clear plastic cover that goes over top of the speedo, it has a honda sticker right in the middle that would block my new MPH numbers. I doubt I can get it off cleanly, so I might cut it all out and replace it with some clear plastic.

I was able to get the Honda sticker off cleanly. Got some new prints of the face from Kinko's, looks a lot brighter and better.
Re: My First Spree Swap (Aero NH125)
I bought myself a Christmas preset, this Mikuni VM20 carb should get me running a little better.
Re: My First Spree Swap (Aero NH125)
You are aware that the stock carb is an 18 mm carb? So 20 is not that much of an increase. As long as you keep the stock intake and reeds you improvement will be minimal A CT intake with a 24 or 26 OKO will boost your top speed well over 65 mph, possibly as much as 10 mph more than that. The first guy to do the carb and intake mod, chickened out at 65 mph even though he had plenty of throttle left.
If you are trying to stay close to stock and keep the price down, there are Boyesen reeds available for the 125. The Boyesen Super Stock reed set in carbon fiber material is part # SSC063, and the price for the set (2 reeds for 2 motors) is $50.95 + shipping.
If you go the Boyesen reeds route, I would take the second set and split the cost with you.
There is also this carb that bolts to the stock intake.

I paid $35 plus shipping for mine.

Re: My First Spree Swap (Aero NH125)
I've been doing research on replacement carbs since I bought the nh125. I wanted a direct replacement, but was tempted for a larger intake/carb upgrade like the oko. I just didn't want to mess with fabricating a intake adapter, since nothing is available for the nh125.Bear45-70 wrote:You are aware that the stock carb is an 18 mm carb? I chose the Mikuni vm20 because replacement parts are easy to find and a wide variety of jet sizes are available. It came with a 180 main jet but I could buy jets from 70 to 500.
Where can I buy the Boyesen reeds? What kind of performance can I expect? I've looked into a stock reed valve replacement but they're $35-45 each.
Re: My First Spree Swap (Aero NH125)
Got the Mikuni installed and running, seems to run a lot better. Need to spend some time tuning this weekend. Still need to mess with the throttle cable and air filter box setup.

I bought a manual valve to replace my leaky petcock, not bad for $12 shipped.
Re: My First Spree Swap (Aero NH125)
How do you reach the valve to turn it on and off?Tyler VR wrote:I bought a manual valve to replace my leaky petcock, not bad for $12 shipped.
