Heli coil or retap?
Ran into a small snag. The previous owner of my motor stripped the threads out of one of the gear cover bolt holes. Is it better to retap or heli coil a new tread in?

Aluminum threads when in contact with a steel screw threads always loose, even when you retap them. Heli-coils makes the threads steel to steel.

I don't have to research nothing. I personally have installed hundreds if not thousands of heli-coils and it is not brain surgery. In fact none of them are.veedubh20 wrote:I'm saying! Time sert!
Do your research!

Never, ever had a properly instaled heli-coil come out or the bolt screwed into it.veedubh20 wrote:Time sert hold bolt on moving parts better .
