Edit: I found this, which makes me think the previous owner mixed up the fuel/vac lines. Maybe?

If the red braided line is connected to the petcock per your photo and to the carb fuel inlet then the fuel and vac lines are swapped.This is correct, right?

I prefer clear lines for replacement as you can see what is going on inside them. Oh and next time take a picture before you disassemble something. It will save you this type of head ache.
