aero exhaust
Hey Aero/ SE 50 guys. I just got a proma exhaust from VT Cycles about $100. Very pleased. Lost a little bottem end, and I got the dirt bike sound(which isn't too loud), but top end power is awesome. At about 35 mph, the scooter takes off! Its gotta be hitting 50 mph! Anyway, Just thought I'd share.
They're out there. I saw it for sale on VT Cycles. I'm just too cheap to go buy it. You say for $100? Shipped? Is it an expansion chamber, with external silencer, or is it one with an internal silencer?
I'm looking at building a pipe for mine.

Well, in my opinion, it's best to stay away from an SE50. The plastics are tough to find. Don't break them, and if you do, try to fix them. I wish I had a newer Elite. I wish I at least had under seat storage (for a stereo).

VT sold me the exhaust for 90 bucks. I also bought a couple of center springs from them. all shipped came to 129 bucks. I did encounter another problem though. With the exhaust mounted, my plastic is all over the pipe when I bottom out suspension travel. I've cut the plastic to accomodate, but its tricky working around the rear hinge of the storage compartment. If I head a welder and acetyline torch, I think I could modify the exhaust mounting bracket to tuck toward the center of the scooter a bit more and have no worries. I have an Aero bty. I guess if you don't care about plastic, this exhaust will work great.

I think the golden wrenches are a post meter type thing. More posts, more wrenches. Noiseguy would know.
Are you running on the stock bore on the SE50? How does the Elite do with the exhaust and different center springs? How fast did your's go before? My SE50 can't go over 25 to save its life. I have a UNI air filter, no restrictor in the exhaust, restrictor removed from the variator, and a larger tip on the exhaust. Still same speed and takeoff as when I bought it (only thing then was UNI filter and no exhaust restrictor. And I have a large main jet. It has to be my cyl. and piston, since I've checked everything else it could possibly have been. I just changed its final drive oil, and it was gray when it came out. I put synthetic 75w-90 in mine.

I actually have an Aero 50, although I've heard it has the same engine as the se 50. When I was stock, I'd top out at 35 maaybe 40 mph down hill. I somehow destroyed a crank bearing so I went all out on my rebuild. Now I've got the polini big bore(65cc) , high energy coil, high speed variator with stage 2 ramp plate, and I retrofitted a larger carb from an old junker honda 175 motorcycle(which is 18-19 millimeter I think). That got me a lot more take off and top end, I think mostly due to the variator. Then of course I just added the proma exhaust and center spring. The exhaust caused a small loss in low end go, for which reason I upgraded the center spring. The center spring raised the amount of rpm it takes for the rear pulley to spread, thus giving me back more take off. I can now easily bury the speedo and hold speed up hill much better than before. If I do any more, I will change the final drive ratio and bump up my center spring to a 2k rpm. any faster than that should be to scary on 2 10" wheels!
