Re: The Daily Chat
Mike,
Good find.. the 50cc Buddys are very popular with the college students in Gainesville, Florida, and the two dealers there still sell a lot of them. What is nice about the 125cc ones is that they have the same chassis and body as the 50cc Buddys, so the 125s are light and fast. This is unlike Kymco and TGB where the 50cc scooters are 125 scooters with 50cc engines, and the 50cc 4 stroke Kymcos are painfully slow, while the TGB 50cc 2 strokes are pretty good. The included open top glove box at your knees on the Buddy is also very handy. Common Genuine (PGO), TGB, SYM and Kymco marketing strategies stress that scooters made in Taiwan are much higher quality than those made in mainland China, and some of that is true. Seat material is somewhat better than that on a Chinese GY6 scooter, but not as good as Honda. Engine reliability is very good. The black plastic parts on your scooter are made from a different type of plastic than your red parts. Very often, what is black on yours is a different color, for example, pink on a pink scooter, green on a green scooter and those parts fade to white fairly quickly when left outdoors in the sun. I sold all my Kymco 50s, which were too tall and slow for me with 4-stroke engines. I did keep one 50cc TGB 2-stroke which is too tall for me, but is reasonably quick. I still have three Buddys and one PGO MyBuBu. I have never had a SYM, but see a lot of them in Taiwan, and the Lance brand sold in the US are marketed as made by SYM, to differentiate them from Chinese GY6s and to imply a higher quality. Here is my current Buddy/PGO fleet.. the green is a Buddy 150 Italia International, the blue is a Buddy 50 San Tropez, Pinky is a Buddy 125, and the red/silver is a PGO MyBuBu 125:

Re: The Daily Chat
mm.. just sent you a PM.
Re: The Daily Chat
I kinda like the Rattler. Anyone mod their Genuine motors? Results?
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.
Re: The Daily Chat
Thanks for the link Vaughn...
The shop that was my home for a few years (now closed)
was Red Dog scooters here in Nashville.
He was a Genuine dealer for a while.
There were Buddys coming in for repairs and service
all the time. Good friend Norm owns a Buddy Black Jack.
He has almost stopped riding now though, and it sits under a cover at his apartment complex.
I'm trying to keep him motivated to get out, but with little success.
Went over once last year and got his bike out for a 15 minute
trip around his neighborhood. It has a pipe and some whitewalls on it.
motor.....out...

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

Re: The Daily Chat
2013 Sym Symba, 101.4 cc, less than 400 miles on it.. I took off the rear seat to mount the top box short term. I ordered an extended chrome rear rack from Thailand on Monday, and when that comes in, I'll put the rear seat back on, and the top box behind it.
Re: The Daily Chat
How can you ride such a horrible, basket-less motorbike ?

Re: The Daily Chat
Finished the basketization today.. I used a Passport C70 chrome front rack, and a generic "Passport C70" basket. The basket isn't really very close to a genuine Honda C70 basket, nor a genuine Symba basket, but it is the best I can do for now. The chrome extended rear rack is still on the way from Thailand.

Re: The Daily Chat
The 2020 Super Cub I ordered 6 months ago for December, 2019 delivery arrived this past Friday. I picked it up on Saturday, and basketized it yesterday. I put a Honda business box on it, like many have in Japan. Now I can commute to work in a white shirt and tie, and put my suit jacket and briefcase in the business box, and I am good to go in Yokohama..
Re: The Daily Chat
I LOVE those new Honda Cubs. Hopefully in the next few years I'll get one before they stop making them again. I just picked up this leftover 2018 Kawi Z125 Pro. Haven't had it out yet but seems promising. Got it for half MSRP! Already did the fender eliminator and added a windshield.
