Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
I just pulled the plug, disconnected the vacuum line on petcock & drained carb bowl. Spun it over a few times & let sit. Hopefully when I do get it running, this doesn't happen again. Bystarter not closing cause this? I tested it & the needle does protrude out. I'll check it to see if there is an o ring at the end & remove it.

Self mixing, how would this be possible? Does oil come out even when just cranking it over? Gear being engaged on oil pump?swimmingfree wrote:you may have put too munch oil in it ... that wood make it flood out...

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Double checked to see if I have spark, nice strong blue sparks!! Put on the vacuum line, filled carb bowl & tried to go. Nope. If I listen closely i can hear a liquid in the crank. So looks like I'm diving deeper & taking more apart. I could tip the bike but have to remove oil & gas tanks. I'm almost there, again.

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Has been sitting for a few days to dry out, going to tip it over to see if any residual oil drips out from jug. Then I'll put it back together & try to start it. Reeds looked good from the top. Couldnt really get it out to see the bottom/stoppers, should that be a definite thing to check?

Reed looks good, flaps open & close good. Now I need a new gasket or make one.

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
So I need to recheck my compression test, why?
Because I might have a worn cylinder. Somebody else had same issue with starting. Everything else was fine but a slightly worn cylinder. It took a good number of starts to build up to that psi. It should get to at least 90psi in a second or two. Does this make sense? If so, might be my issue. I can get 118psi but takes a few more presses of start button than it probably should to build up my psi. I will redo it and see what psi I get to within the first burst of start button.
