Best way to clean an Elite?
What is the best way to clean an Elite? Not just the plastics, but everything on it. I picked up a few older elites a couple days ago and they aren't very clean.
Currently own:
->1995 Honda Elite 50 (Derestricted)
Have previously owned:
->Multiple 94-01 Elite 50s
->1985 and 1986 Honda Sprees

Simple green, wire brush, elbow grease. Follow up with a power steam. Make sure to mask off intake and any other exposed drains and tubes. For rough plastic parts, use Goo Gone.

Soap and water for body work and frame... dish soap is fine. Sponge or rags.
I use Gunk engine cleaner on engines. Spray on, let sit, hose off. Need to ensure it doesn't get into the carb...
I usually do Gunk first then hit with soap and water. Should not require a lot of work.
Any further cleaning usually gets done at part level... parts taken off engine or body parts for repaint. Simple Green and a toothbrush works well, but frankly Gunk will remove most.

Re: Best way to clean an Elite?
^all great suggestions.
tip: for the real super grimey stuff on engine, spray with some brake cleaner, watch it melt away and wash with soap & water or spray with hose soon after. just don't let it sit too long as it can eat thru paint, but a quick douse and hose down does the trick

Greetings:
Harley ownership is fraught with um... accidents. This Stuff is positively without equal. Same cautions as Burnt Toast mentioned with brake cleaner; be ready with the hose, because aluminum will become pitted if left on too long.
