For sale is an 85 Honda Spree with CLEAN title in hand and brand new tabs. The Spree has been fully rebuilt when the fully built engine was installed this winter.
The engine has:
High Compression head and piston combination
Ported and polished intake and oiling galleys
Larger carb from an 80cc motor
Custom oversized intake
Uniflow airfilter
Aftermarket 2-stroke pipe
Also comes with brand new High performance extra wide Pirelli tires in the front and rear, and a re-upholstered seat.
The entire bike was stripped down to the frame this winter and repainted and then clear coated. If you don't like the paint on the rear plastics I can have them resprayed all white.
The bike is very fun and with all the mods will do 45mph!! Still 49cc so no motorcycle license is required. The only bad is that if the bike sits for a while it takes a squirt of started fluid to get it going, but there is no need to remove anything, just a quick squirt through the airfilter.

Money says it runs like crap and that is why he is selling it. My proof, starting fluid to start it.

Agree...I like the color scheme.Bear45-70 wrote:Money says it runs like crap and that is why he is selling it. My proof, starting fluid to start it.
I didn't think you could do that much modding to a Spree motor and have it run good.

My gut feeling is his Bystarter is not doing its thing properly - if it's even still there.

Actually, a stock Spree with a pod filter AND an operating bystarter normally won't start. Just way to darn lean.RZRob wrote:My gut feeling is his Bystarter is not doing its thing properly - if it's even still there.

Re: I like it!
Greetings:
The CL ad indicates a non-stock carb, from an 80cc scooter. Maybe one like Bear has been seeking?

Re: I like it!
If it is not getting oil, yes. the starter fluid will not lube the engine enough to keep the metal from wearing.patthesoundguy wrote:doesnt 2stroke + starting fluid = bad?

Re: I like it!
Starting fluid is ether and ether does not burn, it explodes like nitro does. Get some in the crankcase and have the mixture in the chamber light ff before the intake port closes and you get an explosion in the crank case. Of course by this time the intake port is closed, so the pressure exits the weak point, that would be the reeds. Seen the results several times. Not worth the chance. I keep an old style oil can around and have 32 to 1 premix in it. 50 times safer and it won't blow your reeds. Has nothing to do with oil, other than any thing used as a primer in a 2 stroke should have oil in it.eliteguy50 wrote:If it is not getting oil, yes. the starter fluid will not lube the engine enough to keep the metal from wearing.patthesoundguy wrote:doesnt 2stroke + starting fluid = bad?

I love the oil can idea, you are less likley to blow your self up, as compared to using a spray bottle full of gas to prime an engine.Bear45-70 wrote:Starting fluid is ether and ether does not burn, it explodes like nitro does. Re: I like it!
not all starting fluid is ether but yes, you do have a good point there. That is also why I never use starting fluid on jet skis. The fiberglass body can fill up and ignite while you are sitting on top of it, not good. BTW, some people will run an engine off starting fluid, not just use it as a primer.
