DIO vs Aero swap
Thinking of swapping a Dio or an Aero motor into a Spree. It seems that Aero engines are a little more plentiful than Dio's on here and most other places. Is the Dio a lot more upgradable than the Aero to the point where it would be worth looking for Dio instead? Also, how challenging is it to do the swap? Isn't there a kit for the Dio-to-spree swap?

Re: DIO vs Aero swap
you can bbk carb exhaust and gears on a aero motor and get a reliable 50mph

Thanks everyone that helps a lot. Will probably go with Aero, I think mid 40's is great speed, 60 is more than I need.

Re: DIO vs Aero swap
Did you have to cut the plastics on that lengthened spree that had the DIO in it? Also will your swap kit work to put the Aero into the spree
Re: DIO vs Aero swap
That pretty much sums it up. I like both motors however, you will probably get addicted to more speed once you have your aero motor set. Consider the dio if you have a tendency to always want a little more in life. It will save you money in the end. I am going to sell one of my mini stroker motors when I get home that was built by TrafficJamz on here. I need to make room for some of my own work but that thing is a beast. Almost too much for town to be honest, that thing motor only likes to be on one wheel at a time! Have fun with your builds and keep your eyes on craiglist. Aeros pop up for cheap when they are without titles and collecting dust.

Re: DIO vs Aero swap
Greetings:
The nice thing about modding an SE05 is that you have an engine a lot of tuners say can't be fast. Mine approached 60 mph. Plus you learn on a cheaper block skills that might keep you from screwing up a pricier SA16.

Re: DIO vs Aero swap
What about Elite 50 motors? Same case as the Aero motor is my guess, I'm pretty sure it still has the CVT drive like an Aero but I cane across I've on eBay for under a $100, is it equivalent to the Aero? I'll probly end up getting a carb, boring it, milling the head, porting the intake, and buying a pipe.
Re: DIO vs Aero swap
I think the are non-variated depending on the year. I have a elite s that is non variated.

Re: DIO vs Aero swap
Will a DIO marketed pipe work on the Elite motor? I'd guess it wold have the same exhaust port so it should bolt up right?

Re: DIO vs Aero swap
Sorry - it will not be a bolt on. 88-93 SA50 has an angled exhaust port, and the rotation of the mounting differs. Will a DIO marketed pipe work on the Elite motor? I'd guess it wold have the same exhaust port so it should bolt up right?

Re: DIO vs Aero swap
Uggh, so any pipe made for a pre-1994 spree/elite/aero will work on this? What's your view on using the stock header on a pipe body?
