Just know you should love your honda.
If anyone else on here builds engines or fixes scooters other than our honda verts they understand the title. If you think your honda is being a turd, I would like for you to try doing water pumps on piaggio style engines.
I underestimated the patience that a vespa mechanic possessed.
Thank you honda for keeping it simple.

Mine treats me right, after 77,000 mi. it does not like the new PG stainless so the SEF pipe goes back on- I had that trans dialed in to perfection.

I swap the case bolts to allens. Alot of older designed engines used Phillips set with an impact hammer. How do you torque with an impact hammer? I guess when it stops moving or moves really quick after tight you know it's done one way or another.

Who uses Phillips screws for fasteners that hold the cases together. And the starter internals? Even the oil pump design is wonky. Hondas all the way. Simple, reliable.

Re: Just know you should love your honda.
The way it was put to me was Philips head screws are a torque limiting fastener by design. The driver is supposed to jump out to prevent over tension. That's why they are a pain to remove with out an impact device of some type. Those hammer impact tools are amazing! A regular impact had n also works well most of the time. If I can't get a Phillips head screw on the first try, I stop and get the dewalt impact wth the; impact bit and usually the screw comes right out.1man8scoots wrote:I swap the case bolts to allens. If you are going to work on Honda scooters from the 80's you need to buy a JIS compatible screwdriver. I bought a Vessel brand Megadora Impacta. With that name you know you are holding one of the world's most impressive screwdrivers, and it also actually works and does not strip screw heads. Imagine how impressed everyone will be when you whip out your Megadora Impacta.
