I gave my daughter a 84 GYRO about two years ago. It ran good when I gave it to her. She let it sit for two years, then gave it back to me. I put in new gas, and STP. I can get it to start if the engine is cold. Then I can ride it around as long as I keep the revs up. As soon as I let off on the gas, it dies, and won't start again for a while.
Any idea what is going on?
Thanks.

Re: Gyro won't idle
Sounds like a clogged pilot jet. Find a manual online, break down the carb and clean it w carb cleaner spray, blasting thru all the little passageways w the nozzle(while wearing safety glasses-no joke) and maybe get a carb rebuild kit off ebay for new seals and jets n stuff.

Re: Gyro won't idle
On my 84 Gyro it would refuse to start unless I squirted oil in the spark plug hole, ran just fine until you shut it off, then needed the oil treatment again. An oversize piston and a little cylinder bore, it is back to perfect.
Hope yours is an easier fix.
