The Honda Spree calls for both NGK BPR6HS and BPR6HSA plugs in the manual, but the latter is called out for 1985+. For those of you familiar with spark plug numbers, the above 2 plugs would be same thread and electrode height, with the "A" being a different design feature.
Anyone know how these two are different?

Re: Difference between BPR6HS and BPR6HSA plugs?
I will be willing to take a guess and say the difference is the BPR6HSA plug comes without the screw-on/off cap on the tip. The part numbers are different for the spark plug caps after '85 on both the Aero 50 and the Spree. The BPR6HS spark plug comes with the screw-on/off cap. That was the only difference I found. NGK denotes that the "A" is a "special" design application.

I have a couple of unmolested boxes of each. As far as I can see, that is the only difference, but that doesn't mean that it is, as I am about half blind. To me, the electrodes look exactly the same... only difference I see is the presence of the removable cap... bonesv

Thanks; you saved me having to buy 1 to figure it out. Expect that this is exactly it... one is missing the screw on plug top.vintagegarage wrote:I have a couple of unmolested boxes of each. There's a similar version from NGK that they refer to as "SOLID", which has the stubby cap and does *not* screw off.
I got a question over the weekend on this plug and was stumped, but the real problem was buyer didn't know that the cap unscrewed from the plug.

Re: Difference between BPR6HS and BPR6HSA plugs?
Seems as if this mystery has been solved...Ive always wondered why some plugs I buy had tips while others didnt...I guess I didnt notice the ÔÇ£AÔÇØ and ÔÇ£non-AÔÇØ being the reason.
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.
Re: Difference between BPR6HS and BPR6HSA plugs?
There are few OEMs big enough to tell NGK "Hey, I want you to issue me a special part number for my engines, and I'm not paying for that cap, so you need to knock $0.02 off each plug."Meatball wrote:Seems as if this mystery has been solved...Ive always wondered why some plugs I buy had tips while others didnt...I guess I didnt notice the ÔÇ£AÔÇØ and ÔÇ£non-AÔÇØ being the reason.
Honda is big enough.
Ironically, the BPR6HSA is actually *more* expensive than the higher-content BPR6HS.

Re: Difference between BPR6HS and BPR6HSA plugs?
I always wanted to confirm what the "A" versus the "Non-A" type plugs was all about....I too though tit was the threaded removable "cap", but I think we now know for sure. Great work bonesv and vintagegarage.
