Just bought an 86 Spree and realized the fuel level float is completely missing. There’s a couple 85 units on eBay, but these have two wires, whilst mine has three.
Is there any way I could use the 85 on the 86? Is there any way I could combine the two (take the float bit off the 85 unit and attach it to the 86)?
Thanks
85 Spree fuel sending unit (2 wire) on an 86 (3 wire)?

Re: 85 Spree fuel sending unit (2 wire) on an 86 (3 wire)?
Greetings:
I'm guessing nobody has ever done this. If the price isn't too high, you might just get the '85 sender and experiment.

I believe the 3rd wire is normally for the warning light which some scoots have.

Re: 85 Spree fuel sending unit (2 wire) on an 86 (3 wire)?
Electrically, the 2 wire 85 fuel gauge and sender are a matched set. Same for the 3 wire 86-87. The changes between the early to late Sprees fuel gauge system is enough no mixed set indicates correctly. An 85 sender on your 3 wire system will read way low (I don't recall the exact amount maybe 1/4 to 1/3 full?) even when the tank is full.Just bought an 86 Spree and realized the fuel level float is completely missing.

It might, but there may be a less expensive alternative. Is there any way I could combine the two (take the float bit off the 85 unit and attach it to the 86)?
Do you need only the plastic float?
Or is your assembly missing both the float and actuating rod?
